The new year’s still young, so we thought it appropriate to get around to our annual list of the top legal strains on the market. The strains below are legal in all 50 states due to being under the legal limit for THC content (0.3%). Although technically, they are cannabis strains they are often referred to CBD hemp varieties. These are often sold as CBD hemp flower.
A brilliant cross between the ever-popular Charlottes Cherries and Wife strains, Cherry Wine is an exceptional strain that produces as much as 22% CBD. Cultivated from dense hemp seeds, this one’s low THC content and high volume of CBD makes for a restorative experience for both body and mind.
As you may have suspected based on its name, Cherry Wine is an aromatic strain with distinct notes of sweet cherry with subtle hints of black pepper. This one is available as seeds or clones, depending on where you look.
A connoisseur favorite, this bold high-CBD strain unlocks a king’s ransom of aromas. At once citrusy, sweet and pinesy, the Electra strain is a treat for the pipe and palate alike. This one is especially delectable for those who prefer to consume their hemp flower orally by eating it. The sweet nutty taste makes up for the woodsy mouth feel.
With medium size nugs and a protracted duration of effects, Electra is up there with the very best cultivars of recent vintage. This one peaks in under a half hour and doesn’t disappoint with its ability to instill calm without causing hours of inertia.
As the name would suggest, this strain gets you lifted. With a well-balanced ratio of CBD (14-20%) to THC (0.3%), Lifter boasts a bold aroma redolent of everything from lemon zest and pineapple to pine and white pepper.
Unlike other strains which can primarily make you relaxed and a bit on the sleepy side, Lifter is a full spectrum strain that relaxes while, also, elevating. There is a clean energy to this one that is mostly unheard of among mass market cultivars.
A terpene-rich CBD bud with higher traces of THC than most, Spectrum lives up to its name by offering the user a wide variety of potential experiences. It’s chill, it’s ponderous, it beats the pants off your standard ACDC and it’s an overall powerhouse. To put it another way, broad spectrum means broad possibilities.
# 5—SUPER LEMON HAZE
With a Delta-9 THC level and more crystallization than a sequel to Frozen, Super Lemon Haze will have you singing “Let it go” at the top of your lungs to any friend who’s Bogarting your glass. With enough red hairs to qualify for McStatus, this strain will make you feel luckier than a leprechaun with a pot o’ gold. Get your dose on without becoming a couch potato.
# 6—SWEET PREMIUM
Like the name, I’ll keep this short and sweet. Sweet Premium is a helluva strain. No seeds. No stems. Just medium sized A-grade flowers with large, dense buds. The aroma is…you guessed it, sweeet!
# 7—T1 FLOWER
T1 flower is a domestic delight floral strain with notes of mint, citrus and lavender. It makes for a smooth vaping experience…if your nostrils don’t swallow it first. The orange hair coverage is as impressive as Super Lemon Haze and the lemon-lime flavor makes it complimentary to tea and salads alike.
An old fave in a fresh cultivar, Wife is as reliable as a stranger in the dark. With a 20:1 ratio, this hybrid smacks of wild cherries and produces a full body experience that’s free of psychoactivity. A terrific choice for first-timers and those who want to unwind. Enjoy hours of tranquility and stomach-soothing properties.
CLOSE CONTENDERS—BLUE DREAM & BLUE ORCHID
Maybe I’m biased because my favorite color is blue, but these two hybrids came within inches of making it onto my top 8 list. Each boasts a range of terpenes, and sumptuous notes of black pepper and licorice.
