CBG, CBN, and THCV Formats: A Label and Documentation Comparison
CBG, CBN, and THCV are cannabinoid names. They are not product formats, strength statements, spectrum guarantees, or evidence of a particular effect.
On current IHF product records, those names appear across oils, distillates, isolate powders, gummies, and capsules. Each format uses different units and requires different supporting records. A shopper comparing them should begin with identity and documentation—not a promised outcome.

The table describes where the names appear. It does not establish that every variant is in stock, that every package has the same formulation, or that a particular batch meets a legal threshold.
First: identify the named analyte
Cannabigerol, cannabinol, and tetrahydrocannabivarin are distinct chemical compounds. Laboratory cannabinoid panels may report them as separate analytes when the method includes them and the laboratory can measure them at the relevant level.
A label abbreviation should connect to the complete product record and a matched report:

NIST’s cannabis laboratory work demonstrates why analyte naming and measurement quality matter. Its CannaQAP program helps laboratories assess cannabinoid measurement comparability, and its RM 8210 hemp reference material includes assigned values for several cannabinoids, including CBG and CBN. That does not certify a retail product. It shows that named cannabinoids require defined analytical measurement rather than label shorthand.
Oil: read the bottle total, volume, and blend language
An oil places one or more cannabinoid ingredients in a carrier oil. Its label can state:
- milligrams of a named cannabinoid per bottle;
- milligrams per milliliter;
- milligrams per labeled serving;
- bottle volume in milliliters; and
- a ratio or paired amount for a blend.
Those are different facts. A 5,000 mg bottle statement does not equal 5,000 mg per serving. A 30 mL volume describes liquid volume, not cannabinoid mass.
CBG oils in the current catalog
CBG Hemp Oil currently offers selector values of 5,000 mg and 10,000 mg in a natural-flavor oil record. The selector names strength but the package and batch documents should confirm that the number refers to CBG, the bottle volume, amount basis, carrier ingredients, and current formulation.
CBD:CBG Hemp Oil is more explicit in the live selector. It pairs named amounts such as 1,000 mg CBD plus 1,000 mg CBG and higher paired variants. Add the two only when the question is the combined mass of those two stated ingredients; keep them separate when comparing CBG concentration or a batch result.
CBN oils in the current catalog
CBN Isolate Hemp Oil currently displays a 5,000 mg natural-oil option. “Isolate” in a product name describes the stated cannabinoid input or formulation approach; the finished oil is still a mixture because it includes a carrier. A finished-product COA should identify the oil matrix and measure the analytes reported for that batch.
For every oil, match the batch number and confirm whether the laboratory result is expressed per gram, per milliliter, or for the container. Density may be needed to convert mass-based results to volume-based claims.
Distillate: cannabinoid-rich extract, not a universal percentage
Distillate is a refined extract format. The word does not guarantee a fixed purity, cannabinoid spectrum, texture, or THC result.
IHF currently lists CBG Distillate in 1 g, 5 g, 10 g, and 25 g sizes, and CBN Distillate in 1 g and 10 g sizes.
Those gram values describe the selected material mass. They do not state how many grams are CBG or CBN. To estimate named-cannabinoid mass from a batch result, the percentage and sample basis must be established:
material mass × cannabinoid mass fraction = calculated cannabinoid mass
For example, one gram of material reported at 90% by mass would contain a calculated 0.9 g, or 900 mg, of that analyte. The example is arithmetic only; it is not a claim about an IHF batch.
Check the COA for:
- exact sample name and matrix;
- batch or lot match;
- CBG or CBN result and unit;
- other reported cannabinoids;
- LOD and LOQ;
- analysis date;
- method;
- residual-solvent panel, when relevant to the process and claim; and
- whether the report covers the finished packaged material.
A distillate can include more than one cannabinoid. Do not replace the full panel with the largest result.
Isolate powder: verify identity and purity batch by batch
Isolate is a separated cannabinoid ingredient, often sold as a crystalline powder. “Isolate” is not itself a verified purity percentage.
The current catalog lists:
- CBG Isolate Powder in 1 g, 5 g, 10 g, and 25 g selections; and
- CBN Isolate Powder in 1 g and 5 g selections.
The CBG product’s option is currently labeled “Count” even though its values are gram weights. Read the selected value as the displayed product option, then confirm the package net weight; do not treat “Count” as a number of individual units.
For an isolate, the identity question is narrow but important: does the report name CBG or CBN as the tested analyte and match the lot? Then read:
- reported percentage or milligrams per gram;
- moisture or other basis, when supplied;
- related cannabinoids;
- reporting limits;
- residual solvents or other relevant panels actually performed; and
- report approval and revision status.
One gram of powder is the net material amount, not automatically one gram of the named cannabinoid. A verified purity result is needed for that calculation.
Gummies and capsules: per piece, per serving, and ingredients
Unit-dose formats add two layers that bulk oil or powder may not have: individual-piece claims and a food or capsule formulation.
The current Sleep Blend Gel Capsules record states 25 mg broad-spectrum CBD, 3 mg CBN, and 3 mg melatonin per capsule in an 80-count bottle. Those values name three different ingredients. They should remain separate. Adding them does not produce a meaningful “CBN strength.”
The record also shows why a cannabinoid comparison cannot become an effects comparison. CBN and melatonin are distinct substances, and the presence of both does not establish what either will do for an individual. Follow the current label and seek qualified medical advice for health, medication, pregnancy, or interaction questions.
The current THCV gummy record needs clarification
The live THCV Blue Raspberry Gummies details state 10 mg THCV per gummy and approximately 50 gummies per jar. The ingredient list, however, names “CBD Hemp Extract” and does not name a THCV ingredient.
Those fields do not fully agree. Before relying on the product record for composition, ask for:
- a current package-label image;
- confirmation of the cannabinoid ingredient;
- the exact, not estimated, unit count when available;
- a finished-gummy batch or lot number;
- a COA matched to that finished batch; and
- an explanation of whether the ingredient statement or product details need correction.
Multiplying 10 mg by approximately 50 produces an approximate 500 mg label total. It does not resolve the ingredient mismatch or verify the contents.

Compare formats without comparing effects

Format changes handling, units, storage, and the questions a document must answer. It does not create a universal ranking.
An oil can be easier to express by volume; a powder or distillate is commonly sold by mass; a gummy or capsule presents a discrete unit. None of those facts determines an appropriate amount for a person.
The documentation stack
For any CBG, CBN, or THCV product, use four records together:
- Current label: product identity, net quantity, ingredients, cannabinoid amount basis, warnings, directions, and package code.
- Selected variant: exact strength, size, count, flavor, and format added to the cart.
- Matched COA: product or matrix, batch or lot, sample ID, dates, methods, analytes, units, reporting limits, and approval.
- Current law: federal and state definitions, dates, product rules, and any applicable orders or agency actions.
One record cannot replace the others. A COA does not supply a complete ingredient statement. A label does not prove the laboratory result. A collection page does not establish availability or legal status in every destination.
Batch, Lot, Sample ID, and Test Date provides the identity workflow. Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and Isolate covers spectrum terminology without converting it into an effect claim.
Questions to ask before choosing a record
- Which named cannabinoid does the displayed milligram value measure?
- Is the value per bottle, per gram, per milliliter, per piece, or per serving?
- For a blend, is each cannabinoid amount stated separately?
- Does the selected variant match the label image?
- Does the ingredient list name the cannabinoid source or ingredient consistently?
- Is the count exact or approximate?
- Does the COA match the finished product or only an input ingredient?
- Are CBG, CBN, or THCV included in the laboratory method and result table?
- What other cannabinoids and reporting limits appear?
- Do the package lot, report batch, sample ID, and dates connect?
If the answer is missing, request the current label or batch record. A cannabinoid name is a starting point for document review, not the end of it.
